ANGIOGENESIS

Refers to the formation of new blood vessels, stimulated by tumor growth. Angiogenesis allows the tumor to continue obtaining blood nourishment throughout its development. Thus, some new drugs, belonging to the classes of molecular target drugs, have their action directed to the inhibition of angiogenesis, as a way to block tumor growth or to obtain the reduction of a lesion.
