CA 19-9

A substance measured in the bloodstream that can be used as a biomarker for the presence and activity of certain types of tumors in adults and children. Among tumors that may cause elevated levels of CA 19-9 are cancers of the colon, rectum and pancreas. This substance is usually measured in blood samples.
