Blood cell, originating in the bone marrow and belonging to the human immune system. Plasma cells are responsible for the production of immunoglobulins, proteins responsible for the body’s defense and also known as antibodies. The increased proliferation of plasma cells results in a neoplasm called multiple myeloma.
