Hundreds of health professionals from the most diverse specialties of cancer care participated in the 8th International Symposium promoted by the Oncoclínicas Group. The gynecology oncology panel also had two doctors who are part of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute team, Ursula Matulonis and Joyce Liu.

Andreia de Melo, clinical oncologist at Oncoclínicas in Rio de Janeiro, during the cervical cancer panel, says that a discussion was promoted on whether there is a role for neoadjuvant therapy in combination with the standard treatment of the disease. “This topic is a source of controversy in oncology, regarding discussions on the treatment of cervical cancer”, she analyzes.

Other subjects that, according to her, are also worth mentioning, include the class on how to evaluate para-aortic lymph nodes in the staging of locally advanced cervical cancer (FIGO 2018 IB3 to IVA), the incorporation of molecular characteristics into endometrial cancer management and the histomolecular diagnostic approach.
