Sobre a unidade

Combining modernity and tradition, Hospital Santa Izabel has an integrated oncology service led by a team of specialists from Oncoclínicas Group. Through this partnership, it offers services and treatments such as chemotherapy, clinical consultations, advanced treatments, urgent and emergency care and surgical intervention.

Furthermore, the joint operation guarantees patients one of the most modern radiotherapy centers in the North and Northeast of Brazil, with state-of-the-art linear accelerators associated with modern treatment techniques, which allow for an efficient approach to the tumor, minimizing the effects of radiation on the surrounding normal tissues.

The Hospital Santa Izabel, of the Santa Casa da Bahia, was inaugurated at its current location in the district of Nazaré on July 30, 1893, after more than 60 years in construction, following the plan devised in 1874 by Count Pereira Marinho, who left a large sum of money in his will for the construction work. In 1915, HSI’s facilities hosted the first blood transfusion in Bahia, and the first meeting of the Bahia League Against Cancer, in 1936.

Today, with an impressive daily care routine for more than two thousand patients, Santa Izabel is a general hospital of high complexity that offers assistance in more than 40 medical specialties in addition to outpatient care, hospitalization, and diagnostic and therapeutic support services, working especially in the areas of cardiology, oncology, neurology, orthopedics and pediatrics.

It is certified as an Accredited Hospital with Excellence – Level 3 by the National Accreditation Organization (ONA), for its management excellence, in recognition of the organizational culture of constant improvement with institutional maturity. It holds the international certification HIMSS (Health Information and Management Systems Society) Level 7 and the Qmentum International – IQG, Canadian international accreditation.

A national standard and pioneer in the Northeast, HSI’s Interventional Cardiology and Hemodynamic Service, which has already performed more than 100 thousand procedures in 40 years of activity, holds a Diamond Certification by Distinction.

The outpatient and inpatient care includes users of the Unified Health System (SUS), private patients, and patients with agreements with the main health insurance companies. Through a contract, HSI successfully integrates itself to the complementary assistance networks of the municipal and state SUS, playing a role of great social reach in the health care of the population and the development of medicine in Brazil.
