CHEMOTHERAPY

A type of systemic treatment that uses drugs that kill tumor cells by interfering with cellular functions and reproduction.

Chemotherapy may involve the administration of a single drug or multiple drugs combined in a predetermined treatment regimen. Depending on the drug, the route of administration may be oral, intravenous, or intramuscular. In addition, chemotherapy is usually applied according to a treatment cycle.
